Depends a lot on your speed, the stitch you use, any pattern/colouring you use etc.For example, a plainish one in a bigish stitch with a bigish hook 3 hours, the smaller the stitch, and fancier the pattern perhaps you could be looking at a week..

i have several, wasg in cold water on the gentle cycle. and hang to dry, or put in dryer on low heat, any higher heat will make it shrink.

Here are two links. Hope they help. I have done an afghan with squares and cross stitched ducks from a graph . You can also make panels of a desired length and join with crochet stitches or sew together later.edit: It always curls up on the edges . When you are finished you can use a damp cloth and low iron setting to press, then let dry on a flat surface .

Not wise to wash a wool blanket with cotton as wool causes lint and would need to be washed at a lower temperature than cotton to avoid shrinkage, Wool should be washed in cold water only and wool type detergents must be used to help clean and soften the wool fibers, I would suggest as a least expensive alternative to washing this afghan blanket is using half cup of Baby Shampoo poured into your washer on a gentle cycle (gentle cycle avoids stretching wool ) in cold water only, you can dry in the dryer but on a delicate or low dry becareful not to overdry Good Luck !

Sure, just use delicate, warm water, easy on the dryer temperature in case it’s wool though it probably isn’t. Haven’t seen a wool afghan for years. Ammonia will help remove a good deal of the doggy smell, all by itself or as an additive, though if your dog smells like my dog, this will forever be the dog’s afghan. Check the bottle label for quantity of ammonia to use.
