afgans Crochet Afghan Free Interrelated Info

Buying Crochet Afghan was one of the best investments I ever made. I highly endorse it.

Do you know where I can find a crochet afghan pattern with the UNC symbol in it?
My boyfriend LOVES UNC and I am thinking of making him an afghan with the UNC logo in it. I have yet to find a pattern like this. Do you know of one?

Herrschners has a booklet for sale that includes a pattern that is called Bird’s Paradise, it was published in 2005.

4 ply yarn is a fingering weight yarn8 ply is a sport/dk weight yarn10 ply is a worsted weight yarn12 ply is a bulky weight yarn if you use a bulky weight yarn instead of a 4 ply, the blanket will come out gigantic about 10 times bigger then the patterns says.

ok, this is what I recommend. You can do cross stitch on top of a plain afghan stitch afghan, using the university logo. You can chart the logo by printing it off on graph paper, there are sites to download the best crochet graph paper.you need to be brave, you will be amazed at how well you design your own patterns!!you can download and graph the logo yourself, by printing off graph paper, and then putting that graph back in the printer, and printing off the logo on the paper. You can either cross stitch the pattern, or crochet it into the afghan, using the chart.I have based a pattern on an existing afghan project, and by substituting the images that work for me, like the logo, I managed to fake a nice pattern; but I knit, so that is slightly different. good luck and be brave, this is the perfect time to create your own pattern

There is a stitch called the ”broom stick lace” also known as “jiffy lace” or Peacocks eye” It is fun and fast and very interesting and eye catching. If your interested in learining it here is a site to show you how it is done and if you try it and have a problem contact me.http://serendipity.gpvm.com/broomstick.html

You need to figure out the pattern repeat. You can do that a number of ways. You can make a swatch and just calculate out how many stitches are needed for the pattern before the pattern repeats again. When you do this, make sure you add the turning chain on at the end.Another option would be to just crochet a starting chain as long as you want it to be and then start the pattern. (Leave a long tail when you make the slip knot.) If you have too many chains, just unpick the slip knot and unravel the last few chains. If you have too few, use the starting chain to make a few more chains. I have used both of these methods and they work well. If you do this, keep in mind that sometimes the pattern will make the afghan shorter than the starting chain, especially if it’s a ripple pattern. To prevent you having to unravel and redo, make a swatch and see if it will shorten at all. You will have to crochet several rows into it to see if it gets smaller.

You could borrow the technique from this afghan http://www.allfreecrafts.com/crochet/american-flag.shtml.

If you know how make an afghan that is sorta a take on the Granny Square, just one big one.Start out by making a chain about 12 in long. Go back on the chain with double crochet putting one in each hole. when you getto the end put 4 double crochet in that hole continue around back up the other side with double crochet in each hole and when you get to the other end put 4 double crochet in that hole. You should have the chain in the middle surouned by double crochets and 4 on each end. Join with the first double crochet you made. Chain 3 put two double crochet in the hold next to your chain. then three in each hole till you reach the end with your 4 . make 3 double crochet, chain one then three double crohet in same hole move over one hole put in 3 double move over on hole put three double one chain three double work your way back down the bottom side with 3 double in each. same thing when you get to the end 3 double one chain 3 double move over to next hole three double move over three double one chain three double. attatch to the chain you started with.at this point you should end up with an almost an oval shaped piece and you will have started your four corners. Chain 3 put 2 double in the hole by that continue around as you would a normal square.if you make it large enough and since it is rectangle it fits a bed much better than just a large square. It sound more complicated that it is.good luck

it all depends on the pattern of the Afghan that you wish to make look for a pattern and it will tell you the amount that you need , also keep in mind that the yarn used for a project vary then the size of the crochet and your work it self takes a great factor in creating anything from knit to crochet . So I rough guess on this is from 12 to 15 100gr.balls http://www.free-crochet.com/list.html?cat_id=27

Lion Brand’s site had a free prayer shawl pattern. It uses four skeins of homespun. Sounds like a lot, but it works up pretty quickly.lionbrandyarn.comUpdate: I used Lion Brand’s “pattern finder” and searched for “prayer afghan” and a free pattern did come up.

Go here…. http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/ Take a picture you have and convert it to a graph. You may need to do some math to figure out how big the picture is going to be, how big you want your finished afghan etc and as to what stitch to use (though I have found sc to be best with graphed afghans)Good luck!

I agree with Christy….I would look on Ebay to see what a similar item has sold for and don’t forget the condition of your item compared to what a similar item has sold for. If it is a rare hard to find or one of a kind, you could place the price higher. If you did go thru Ebay to sell your pattern, you can set a starting price…..Good luck :)
