Wow, that’s a lot of stitches to carry. It will seem like it is taking forever just to complete a row. Have you considered doing the afghan in sections/strips that you would just whip stitch together to finish. I really like the Lion Brand pattern from the pp.I checked Crochet Pattern Central (link below) and couldn’t find anything that was specific to Autism. Perhaps you could crochet the ribbons and attach them to squares. You could make the ribbons multi-colored and attach them to squares made from his favorite color.Hope that helps!

You can crochet an afghan with single crochet if you choose. You can also use a half double crochet stitch instead of a double crochet. You don’t absolutely need a pattern for something like an afghan or a blanket. If you know how wide you are going to make it, simply chain that distance and then stitch rows on until it is long enough to suit you. You can also add simple stripes by changing colors of yarn every few rows. If you use a varigated yarn (yarn with different colors on one skien), you will get splotches of color at random that can form an appealing pattern without doing any more work. There are lots of videos and tutorials on how to do double crochet stitches if you’d like to learn. It really isn’t any more complicated than single crochet once you learn to account for turning chains and keep track of a few extra steps in each stitch. I myself wanted to make a baby blanket recently. When I came up with this idea I was able to single crochet and work in spirals only. I couldn’t find a pattern that I really liked or that wasn’t too complicated. So, I spent about 20 minutes learning how to half-double crochet online and cranked out a baby blanket over the course of a few days. I added stripes to my blanket by switching colors and worked a border around it in a matching color. This blanket was the hit of the baby shower and was the only gift to actually get applause.Who says you need a pattern?

If you get some knitting graph paper ,you could trace and colour one in from a picture. I have seen it at michaels or a stationery store. Just make sure the guage per square inch is the same as the yarn you are knitting with . I found a link that has free graph . You just type in the guage of your yarn. Once you use this method, you will be hooked (pun intended)

Are you looking for a caricature of a lamb? How big do you want it to be? The picture of the lamb?

I dont have the book, nor seen the afghan, but I think going with a bright variegated yarn for the main color and black as a contrasting color would work.

The shell stitch is easy, dense (so it’s warm), and very dramatic done in just 2 colors, when you alternate colors each row. I made one in green and cream, and on one side it looked green with a little cream, and the other was cream with a little green – VERY effective and VERY easy. It’s wonderful done in your choice of any 2 Christmas colors. Here’s a link to an example of the pattern I like.http://crochet.about.com/library/blsolidshell.htmEnjoy!

If you know how make an afghan that is sorta a take on the Granny Square, just one big one.Start out by making a chain about 12 in long. Go back on the chain with double crochet putting one in each hole. when you getto the end put 4 double crochet in that hole continue around back up the other side with double crochet in each hole and when you get to the other end put 4 double crochet in that hole. You should have the chain in the middle surouned by double crochets and 4 on each end. Join with the first double crochet you made. Chain 3 put two double crochet in the hold next to your chain. then three in each hole till you reach the end with your 4 . make 3 double crochet, chain one then three double crohet in same hole move over one hole put in 3 double move over on hole put three double one chain three double work your way back down the bottom side with 3 double in each. same thing when you get to the end 3 double one chain 3 double move over to next hole three double move over three double one chain three double. attatch to the chain you started with.at this point you should end up with an almost an oval shaped piece and you will have started your four corners. Chain 3 put 2 double in the hole by that continue around as you would a normal square.if you make it large enough and since it is rectangle it fits a bed much better than just a large square. It sound more complicated that it is.good luck

The logo is possibly copy righted so a pattern may not be available. What I have done in the past is make my own patterns. copy the logo onto a piece of graph paper. Then treat it like filet crochet but use different colors instead of open squares. Good Luck.

Go here…. http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/ Take a picture you have and convert it to a graph. You may need to do some math to figure out how big the picture is going to be, how big you want your finished afghan etc and as to what stitch to use (though I have found sc to be best with graphed afghans)Good luck!

Here’s what I can find:The afghan is called Rose Ripple Afghan and is a Herrschner’s design. They do sell the kit in various colors. I have emailed them and they do not have the pattern available other than in the kit. It was published in their magazine back in 1988 in the Jan/Feb issue. I just purchased the magazine off of ebay for $2.50 including shipping so it might be on there now and then. The afghan is made with 2 ply yarn so this will be labor of love. Looks like there is one on ebay as we speak:http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=1&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=herrschner%27s+jan+feb+1988&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&fts=2&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=55416&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1
