Yes he is old enough. Make sure that it is a light one so that the baby doesn’t get to hot at night. Other than that he will be fine

my son uses 2 blankets 1 to snuggle with and 1 to cover him up and he loves his blanky. if you r going to worry yourself to death then they do have thesehttp://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6339927&sourceid=1500000000000003260330&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=6339927it covers them and you dont have to worry about them getting caught up in the blanket or going over their face

I asked my pediatrician this question recently and she said to be on the safe side, wait until the baby is a year old. If he is cold, you can put a wearable blanket on him. He probably would be fine with a blanky or stuffed animal in there but really why chance it yet?

You can use a thin blanket now if you tuck it into the bottom and sides of the crib so that it can’t be pulled out, then put your baby under it so that it only comes up to her chest. Chances are she’s plenty warm. If she was cold, she’d let you know by crying instead of sleeping. If you feel the back of her neck and it feels warm, she’s fine. If you’re really that concerned, get a few blanket sleepers – they’re really warm. You want to be careful you don’t overheat her with your worrying – overheating is just as risky as having a loose blanket. Better to be on the cool side.

We rarely put blankets in the crib because we use the Halo Sleepsacks. The only time I use a thin blanket is during a quick nap when I can keep an eye on him on the monitor. It’s Sleepsacks only at night when we are in bed too. I have a Gloworm in the corner of the crib but that doesn’t have any loose material on it. My son is 6 months and moves all over the crib at night.
