Yes, run the HOT water in your bathtub and pour some vinegar in it. Close the door and allow it to steam up. The vinegar will take the odor out.

The best place for vintage homecoming dresses is the Goodwill online store. http://www.shopgoodwill.comIt is run like ebay in many ways. You can search the clothing section by the words evening gown, homecoming gown, dress, etc and get a decent list.

For show! Back in the day people were entertained by fancy schmancy clips.

  4. Jackie Says:

“Vintage” and “modern” are natural opposites. Trying to combine the two will make you look fake, in comparison to legitimate vintage fashionistas. If anything, legitimate vintage clothing is MORE chic and girly than current trends – you don’t need to make it more modern, to make it girly.

You would be better of trawling the charity shops. If you can get to London for the day you will lots of really good places in Camden.Alot of celebrities and models get their clothes there.

  6. question Says:

Well, I’m not sure whether you want an actual vintage dress or just a vintage inspired wedding dress, but you could check out Kleinfeld if you want vintage inspired. The internet might be a source you have to end up using, but being in New York, I’m sure you can find what you want with some searching. Good luck!

Check out ebay and look in their vintage clothes sections. Look at ones similar to your to get a good idea. I really can’t give you a fair price because i have no idea what it looks like. Good Luck!

  9. Lilly Says:

If it’s machine washable, wash it in the washer on gentle wash, and before putting the dress into the water, add 1/2 cup of vinager, a mild soap that you would use in your washer, then let machine go on for 1 minute, then add the dress. This way the soap and vinager will be mixed around and not a direct hit on your dress. If this is not machine washable, then by all means take it to have it dry cleanned. Ask them about the musty smell and what you can do to get it out.*if you do wash it at home, be sure to dry it in the dryer for only 5-8 minutes on low and take it out and air dry it the rest of the way.**I also like the idea of Dryel. The dryclean bag you can do at home.**if in doubt, don’t put it in the dryer at all.Fabreeze you can spray on clothes and furnature to get out old smells.best to have it cleanned.have you tried hanging outside in the breeze? does that help?I think a good rinse/wash with white vinager would do the trick.good luck! and have fun at the prom!

Go with the seams. they are called full fashioned stockings and you can find them at an online site called stockingstore.com, they have a whole page of them, you will see the link. If you decide to go with the seamless vintage nylons they have a whole page of them too they are called RHT stockings.(reinforced heel and toe) because they have little dark reinforcements . They are also very sheer and totally 1960′s. Good luck!

  11. planner Says:

it just means that the dress is genuinely old….made in another era and that she is selling it. if you are not engaged, there is no point in buying a wedding dress. when you do become engaged, if you want a vintage wedding gown, there are plenty of places to buy them and they are not that expensive. just wait until you need one and then look up “vintage wedding gowns” or “vintage style wedding gowns” and you will see lots.

  12. Kacky Says:

Yes, a seamstress or tailor can “grade” the pattern to a new size, or even make a fresh pattern of that style. A professional will know how to re-slope the neck and sleeves, and change the angle of darts, plus other things that change when the size changes. It will be expensive, but if you plan to wear it more than once, you may want to spend extra to get exactly what you want. Being creative and individual isn’t always cheap!

For a genuine vintage cocktail dress, I’d try this website: http://www.bartonandbarton.comThey are based in the UK but they dispatch worldwide and I’ve always been happy with the clothing I’ve bought from them. Ditto with their jewelry and bags. Some of their stuff is quite expensive but they always have bargains… Just check them out, you never know!Hope this helps!

You might try thrift shops. Or consignment stores. If that fails and you can find a picture, you can have it replicated @ http://www.gioavonnisbridalboutique.net
