Ok, let us first start with a review of Patterns Baby:
I was impressed with Patterns Baby plain and simple. When I placed my order, I had in in my hands within 3 days and the price was great. The key is looking for a seller with over a 100 feedback rating on Ebay. I’ve even included the top Ebay listings to Patterns Baby in this review to make it even easier on you.
anyone know any links for trendy & cute Patterns Baby crochet patterns for baby?
like hats, jackets, etc....thanks!

Check them out in your public library, reading the patterns carefully first, many Debbie Bliss patterns have errors in them and you need to go to her web page for the errata corrections.

A couple of questions for you…Are you looking for a kit to make the blanket that has cross stitching? Are you looking for a pattern to stich and then turn into a blanket (like a quilt)? So, you make the piece and then turn it into a blanket. Are you looking for a border? What size image do you want? How do you want the blanket to be when complete?Do you want a birth announcement or just a pretty design? What are you going to stitch it on? (Linen, Aida, cotton, etc..)Sorry for the questions, but I’m not sure what exactly you want and I do want to help! Can you please edit your question? Thanks.
EDIT: Thanks for the update. Here are some patterns I have considered for my 2 boys. I tend to go for the ones that are not so baby-ish so that they last longer.http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=76_92&products_id=1849 (my favorite!!)http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=21_201&products_id=11322http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-bin/itemdetail.pl?item=3872http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=21_201&products_id=8872http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/popup_image.php?pID=10678http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=76_92&products_id=1806http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=76_92&products_id=14220http://juliesxstitch.com/oscart/product_info.php?cPath=21_35&products_id=2838 (this come in a kit or pattern)Do you like any of these? You can also find mini patterns that you can “dot” around the edge of the blanket. There are a lot of small (around 2-4″ patterns) that are fairly simple and a child would enjoy.

Three things, I have a book and will have to look it up and you can see if you can find it or I would have to type it out for you as I don’t know how to scan and send it to you or copy it and mail it. I also have a pattern for a broomstick lace that is similar but you have an edge and won’t have to worry about how to fasten the top off. e-mail meEDIT I am sorry I did not know how short the directions were so here goes.Crochet hook F or 58 oz sport yarn [or baby yarn]3″ hairpin loomGauge: 5 sc per inchNOTE: Yarn is worked double throughout. Each loop has two strands of yarn which will be referred to as a SINGLE LOOP. Make 14 strips of 120 Single Loops on on each side of the loom. Join Single Loops by pulling 2 single loops through 2 single loops always starting at the same end and working from right side. Fasten last 2 single loops securely. Finish sides by pulling 2 single loops through2 single loops. Weave in all ends. EDGING – - -Make a strip of hairpin lace long enough to go around four sides of blanket allowing a little extra for fullness at corners. It is better to have too much as it can be pulled out. Finish one side of this strip by pulling 2 single loops through 2 single loops. This side will be sewed to the edge of the blanket. Leave single loops on the other side loose to form fringes. This may be cut if desired.

The books give a general average, not a strict guideline. Every baby has their own sleeping pattern

When my boys were babies there was almost nothing for boys and I thought that I wouldn’t be able to make things for my guys, until I realized that there’s little difference between baby girl clothes and baby boy clothes other than the color of fabrics and the addition of lace. The basic shapes and pattern pieces used to make clothes for babies is the same for girls and boys, all you need to do is choose “boy colors” and fabrics and leave of the lace trims, ruffles and cute bunny appliques. For boy themed appliques you can trace pictures from coloring books, that’s what i did. Or not bother as appliques are needlessly time-consuming and let’s face it, baby doesn’t care about trucks on his sleeper. Simplicity has a wide range of baby patterns: http://www.simplicity.com/c-156-babies.aspx?pagesize=99999999 For example this simplicity pattern: http://www.simplicity.com/p-4478-babies-romper-and-jumper.aspx if you ignore the dress, the romper and the onsies are suitable for either boys or girls. Again, with this set:http://www.simplicity.com/p-1815-babies-separates.aspx forget the dress, eliminate the ruffles and use twill fabrics in blues, browns and greys and you have some nice boy’s creeper/rompers in short and long pant versions. Kwik Sew has an even better array of baby patterns: http://www.kwiksew.com/catalog/cat_thumbs.cfm?End=25&Start=1&Cat=Children&Level=Babies&QL=Babies that are easily adapted for boys and several that are designed for boys specifically Kwik-Sew also has a fabulous “Sewing for Baby” pattern book that’s filled with easy to make patterns for clothes suitable for either boys or girls. The patterns and instructions are all included in one book and you can make lots of nice pants, tops, rompers etc: http://www.kwiksew.com/catalog/Book_Baby.cfm?Cat=Book_BabyIf you want some free patterns for the web there are many to choose from. Some free patterns are worth exactly what you pay for them, while others are better. Free patterns usually are for blankets, booties and other easy projects but there are some clothing patterns. Here’s some places with lists of patterns: http://babypatterns.atspace.com/ http://tipnut.com/50-free-projects-for-baby/http://www.allcrafts.net/sewing/babysewing.phphttp://www.sewingfreebies.com/babypatterns.htmlThat should get you started!

I’m fairly sure it’s Annie’s Attic who has a leaflet of heirloom booties that are made with cotton thread….sorry, I can’t find my copy, but if you go to their site and search or contact them, they may be able to help you out.
