I am assuming you are going to start at one side and crochet across to the other side? Then you will need to cast on enough to cover 18 inches. You might want to make one or two extra stitches, for sewing on the backing. And then you would work in rows until you have another 18 inches done, or again one more row extra to allow for a seam when sewing on the backing. If you are going to crochet both the front and the back, then you can just work the 18 inches for one side, and just continue on to the other side for another 18. Then fold it over, and you will only have to sew two seams, stuff the pillow, seam the last side shut, and you are done!If you are going to start in the centre, then you can cast on as few as 6 or 8 and then work round and round in a square. But I think working row by row, from one side to the other would probably work a little easier, depending of course on the design you are using.

You have mentioned a million things with the only common thing being “decoration”. At least I can’t figure out a theme or genre for a keyword. How about:Milady KMilena DesignsMilena’s HandsMilena’s HandmadeMileniaMilenia Designs

to work short rows means that you will not be working with all of the stitches of the previous row.The writer of the pattern forgot to write “turn” at the end of rows 13 to 18 – so when you get to the end of those rows turn your work and then work back over the stitches that you just worked on the row before. At the end of row 19 I presume she/he means for you to cut your yarn and tie off before continuing with the rest of the pattern.

A poster at crochetville.org made a great John Deere tractor motif. If you did two of them (or even just one with fabric for the back), you could sew them together and stuff to make a pillow. You can find the post with pattern and link to a picture here:http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57945&hightlight

Hi I have been making and selling my textile crafts for many years and the best results have come from having home parties or home craft sales. For the parties you invite all your friends, ask them to bring one friend with them. For home craft sales I would put small posters around my local shops, by putting leaflets in surrounding nieghbour’s letter boxes and a small ad in the local free ad paper. Make it an all day open sale, give yourself time for lunch and stay open a couple of hours in the evening for thos who cannot make it during the day.I have made a lot of money this way, and people know that you are there, and I have now had orders for birthday presents and for general gifts throughout the year. There is little outlay and you are in the comfort of your own home.Good luckPS I have many ideas for small gifts that you could make. If you are interested please contact me at my Yahoo group Magical Threads where I am the owner of the group.
