Would like to know about Milward crochet needles?
I am self taught doily crocheter? My Great Grandmother did it all the time. She was almost Crochet Doilies blind and still crocheting patterns from her head. She was 92 when she passed away. I was given her needles. There are many Milward needles. Would love to know about how old they are and if it was possible that they could have been my great-great grandmothers/ Please help. Thanks

there are several ways the one that worked best for me was to wet with starch, lay out flat, you can use pins to stretch it if you like, when dry you can use the spray fabric glue to tack it to the mat. I did this to my grandmothers lace and it worked wonderfully. after a few years i took it down and washed it with no harm done at all, just be sure to read the can of glue to make sure that it is made to be a temporary hold, (even several years is considered temporary) that is it will hold until you actually want to take it apart.

I have used a size 6 but prefer a 9 steel hook for doilies. When crocheting, after each row look at your work and if it is pulling, take the row out and add a few stitches where it says to chain 2 between patterns, I chain 3Here are some links that make help.http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/doilies.php

That’s a hard question to answer. I would say it all depends on the size, quality of materials you used, your skill, etc. To get a good idea I would try searching for similar items on etsy.com. It’s a site dedicated to selling handmade and vintage things. I’ve sold a few things there and bought a lot of things from the site and have always had good luck. It would be a good starting point anyway.Hope this helps.

Yes, Kettmasche is the same as slip stitch in crochet. ☺

Yes, it is so much easier than trying to keep track of every row. Have you tried the doilies in the “Nihon Vogue” pattern books? They are all done that way. I first saw them at my public library and liked them so much. I ordered my own copies from Chapters book store. I’ve even evolved to the point now where I do part of one pattern and part of another in the same doily.
