Ok, let us first start with a review of Pineapple Doilies:
I was impressed with Pineapple Doilies plain and simple. When I placed my order, I had in in my hands within 3 days and the price was great. The key is looking for a seller with over a 100 feedback rating on Ebay. I’ve even included the top Ebay listings to Pineapple Doilies in this review to make it even easier on you.
I need help with crocheting, please?
I have been crocheting for about 2 years now and know how to do most stitches. I've been trying to find an oval doily that I like and also a throw rug. Pineapple Doilies I really would like to make my own pattern, but have no clue how to do that. How do people figure out what they want their crocheted things to look like? And how do they know when to change the stitch (like to make an even amount of pineapples). I would really like to make a doily with a 5-point star, but don't know if this is even possible. I need serious help, please!!!

Hello,cl is cluster. Here two dc’s are joined together by doing the first half, doing the next half and then finishing off the rest. Make a dc till you have 2 loops on hook, make another dc in the next stitch the same way, now yarn over hook and pull through all the loops(3) on hook. Now you will see that your two dc’s in two different stitches are joined at the top. This is a cluster (cl)You can also do a google search for video tutorials for crochet stitches. There are some very good ones that are easy to understand.I hope this helps.Good luck with your pineapple doily.

There are gobs of pineapple doily designs and I have no idea what the first one was like. They’ve been around since at least the Victorian times. The best I can do are some vintage patterns from the 1940′s and 50′s. Hopefully, one of those will be similar to the style you have in mind:http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/Doilies.htmlHere’s one from 1952 that looks pretty typical of ones I’ve seen in pictures of historic houses:http://barbscraftbooks.tripod.com/barbscrochet/id37.htmlAnd, here’s the link to a pineapple doily pattern from 1953.http://www.crochettreasures.com/freepatterns/pineprint.htm

I’m a member of Ravelry.com which is an online community for knitters and crochet artists. They have tons of people and groups on every subject. They have groups to share patterns on every subject you can imagine, so it might be a great place to get some new patterns and share ideas and get help to create your own. Here’s a pattern I found which might be of interest. I simply typed “crochet star patterns” in my search engine and found this :http://grooving2music.com/hobbies-crafts/fancy-work-crochet-pattern-for-lace-starsand another: http://www.vintagecraftpatterns.info/crochet/crochet-star.shtmlGood luck and keep learning and growing with your craft.R
