nora is referred to as a ‘song bird’ throughout. this holds connotations of a bird being trapped in a cage, suggesting torvald encages nora and stifles her creativity and the independence/freedom she so strives for, represented by her fancy dress and wild dancing towards the end of the play. the fact that the bird is a ‘song’ bird suggests it is being used to entertain, just as nora is used to entertain guests on christmas eve with her dance, and as she entertains torvald’s wishes being the perfect ‘dolly wife’ in the play. a caged bird also deserves to be free making the audience want nora to be free and be able to ‘fly’ as a bird would, but she can’t because torvald is holding her back.. this makes her dramatic solution of leaving torvald and her children more understandable to the audience, although it would have been very unconventional and shocking to imagine in real life.torvald also calls her a ‘squirrel’ early on in the play; a squirrel is not a particularly great animal to call your wife, suggesting a lack of respect for her and that he doesn’t see her as a strong person.altogether torvald completely demeans nora through what he thinks are endearments, eg ‘song bird’ and ‘squirrel’.. there will be others too but i can’t remember them :) x

I don’t think there is a Robbie the Rabbit plush animal. I tried looking a while back, but there was nothing. I’ll try and message you if I find one, if you want me too.

My daughter loves the little mommy dolls. They are inexpensive and age appropriate. She plays peekaboo with the doll.

Sylvanian families. They are really cute. Try a local toy store. I went to this one where I live and there were tons of them in the baby dolls part.Good Luck!

  8. Wolfpacker Says:

The wash with gentle detergent & air dry works for stuffed animals. The dolls if they have porcelian or hard plastic faces start with a getle soap on wash cloth – like you would clean your face, if ink stains use a tiny amount of Comet or Ajax. Good luck on cleaning & congrats on the find.

The terribly hungry teddy monster hiding in the closet ate my little brother and I’ve never been the same since. The end.
