Those are so cute!!! You might find a bootie pattern on lionbrand.com and adapt to something similar to those boots. a row of hdc up the top and around the sole in a contrast color would work along with a couple of rows of double crochet in some fuzzy natural colored yarn to look like sheep skin for the cuff. This one might work with a little modificationshttp://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70225AD.html?noImages=

I would be skeptical of doing icicles, won’t they curl? Or does the pattern say how to make them pointed and stiff. Sounds like a lot of work trying to get them to hang straight. Hmmm…

http://www.lionbrand.com has tons of crochet patterns. Maybe you can find something you like. Remember you can always use a different yarn than the pattern calls for to get the effect you want.

I really like the Lion Brand pattern from the pp.I checked Crochet Pattern Central (link below) and couldn’t find anything that was specific to Autism. Perhaps you could crochet the ribbons and attach them to squares. You could make the ribbons multi-colored and attach them to squares made from his favorite color.Hope that helps!

Only one pattern? I’ve got about 1000. I recommend that you go to a library and look at their crochet books. You can also do a web search for free crochet patterns, but my favorite sites are RedHeart.com and LionBrand.com. If you fall in love with a pattern with squares, you can crochet them together (easiest) or whip stitch them (still easy, and much more attractive); any afghan pattern book will have instructions how to do it. The nice thing about afghans is that the size hook doesn’t make too much difference, and I nearly always use a J hook. I tend to make tight chains, so I automatically use a size larger hook. I prefer to use Red Heart yarn, but I have recently discovered “I Love This Yarn.” It is softer than Red Heart, and is slightly thinner.Depending on the complexity of the pattern, the yarn used, and the size hook, it should take you 20-40 hours to make the blanket. In fact, there are some patterns that use 2-4 strands of yarn held together and a really big hook to make a blanket in as little as 8-12 hours.
