I have an acquaintance that makes a modest living selling her hand sewn items at a flea market every weekend. She also has them scattered around the various consignment shops in the area.

Here are a few patterns. You can crochet your rose and add a chain row after words connected in the center of each rose. After you have that row then work your square by chaning three and working two dc.ch 2.then work 3 cd in first connecting chain loop, then work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 cd, ch 1 in the rest of the loops. This will give you a five sided square but you can sew or slip them together and they will create a very pretty and uique aphgan. You just stager the end. Give it a try with a few squares and see what ya think.Happy Stitching

It’s a ‘shell stitch’. This pattern is fairly similar to the purse you posted, although the hardware is different. Good luck.http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=e02728&categoryid=

After round 11 you are to fasten off…meaning end. On the wrong side of the item in Round 7 count 23 stitches and begin Round 8 by attaching with a sc in the front loop……the front loop is the one facing you, then follow the pattern.Below is a great site to help you with many crochet problems.

The color of the purse should really depend on what your mom wants. Generally purses look better in brown or black because they will match pretty much every outfit. However, I do love a nice yellow purse every now and then. It’s nice to add a bit of color to an outfit.Another option you can consider is to make it with mostly browns or blacks, but then use a contrast color (like blue or yellow) if you want to use two different colored yarns. You could use black where there is dark purple in the pattern, and then use gray and blue, or gray and yellow, where there is white and light purple in the pattern. Just an idea…

Do you think that statment may have been an error? It would not be the first time I have found an error in the instructions.Felt first, but then pre-wash the lining before cutting and sewing and you will have both bases covered!

http://www.cet.com/~pennys/faq/smfaq.htmI stopped by my machine dealer today to look at a Janome “Sew Precise” for a friend who’s thinking about the machine, and was pleasantly surprised. It seemed solid, and all of the controls were logical, and the buttonhole decent (it uses an automatic sensor foot, which has apparently improved since they first came out). It had more decorative stitches than you’re likely to use, but all of the basics that I use most often on my electronic machine (a midline Viking). I compared to to a Viking and a Pfaff at similar prices, and definitely thought the Janome was probably the better machine, though it’s still not something I’d pick for myself — I think the Janome probably wouldn’t take as many hours of sewing as I put on the Viking. Still, for someone who’s sewing at most 10 hours a week, I think the Janome would do well. FWIW.If you don’t have to have new-out-of-the-box, there are some excellent used machines out there at bargain prices.Suggested reading: John Giordano’s Sewing Machine Book if you’re interested in older machines, and Carol Ahles’ Fine Machine Sewing (at least read the first few chapters on precision in sewing, and the last bit on choosing a machine). Both commonly available at public libraries.

I don’t think your going to find a published pattern for this. it looks like it could be a fun and possibly frustrating project! I would start by making a mesh base(like filet crochet) then fill in the grid using dc, chain3, dc in each square to mimic the tab part of the purse. You could maybe use metalic bedspead-weight cotton to give it the silver sheen.Hope this helps.Happy crocheting!

You could actually sew the lining by machine. Complete the lining except for a section on the bottom that you’ll leave open for turning. Sew the lining and purse right sides together, then flip them and hand sew that area you left open (which, since it’s at the bottom of the lining, won’t show. You can also attach the handles by positioning them between the lining and purse before you sew. Good luck. Sounds like a good project.

I love to create Bridal Amulet bags using beads and/or pearls to match the bride’s gown. They’re fairly easy to create as most are created with the single crochet stitch. The hard part is deciding upon which fiber/beads/pearls to use!
The amulet bags are great for the bride to be able to tuck in keepsakes that are treasures to carry down the aisle but either don’t match or are a bit tricky to carry. If you’re not familiar with Amulet bags, check out this website: http://www.knitting-and.com/crochet/beaded-amulet-bags.htm... keep in mind that if you’d like a larger bag, use a larger fiber & hook combo. If you’re not familiar with crocheting with beads, check out this website: http://beadcrochet.com/ (directions are available for left & right handed crocheters)I hope this helps.~Dee StanzianoCYCA Certified Crochet Teacher

If you want to know how much to charge for your handmade purses, this is my suggestion;Charge the material cost since you bought your own yarn. Charge also the time you put into making it which I am aware of the fact that you enjoy crocheting and that is why you do but you should still charge for the time you put into it and then charge the amount of profit you want to make from it.So for instance, a purse you just finished, you spent $10.00 for all the yarn used on it. It took you 10 hours to work on it, so charge let’s say $2.00 an hour for that which is now $20.00. So now, we are at $30.00 just for materials and labor. Now you are entitled to a profit for it so if you want $10.00 profit from it, then that is what you add for it so now the final cost you should charge for that purse is $40.00. Please keep in mind that I feel I am being a little generous in all this since at craft fairs, these same type purses would cost a lot more.

Just to be safe, I wouldn’t. I mean, if you add your own personal touch to it, then I am sure that would be fine. Just make sure you change it a little (whether that is adding a pocket, zipper, double vs. 1 strap; there is endless opportunities!). Plus, It will feel better in the end when you feel like you have made it your own =)
